What is Responsible Vendor Training Program? RVT is a training program (
Florida statute 561.702) for establishments that serve alcoholic beverages that teaches servers, bartenders, managers and other employees to serve alcohol in a responsible manner. In addition to employee training, the program requires establishents to institute better hiring practices and to implement policies and procedures regarding alcohol.
Why do establishments that serve alcohol need to implement an RVT program? Complying with the statutory requirement for RVT protects these businesses by restricting the sanctions that can be imposed (suspension of the liquor license) if an employee fails to follow its policies and procedures. An RVT program also mitigates exposure to lawsuits regarding liquor liability.
