                  Important Facts About Impaired Driving

In 2008, 11,773 people were killed in alcohol-impaired
crashes in the U.S.

Although the overall number of alcohol-impaired fatalities decreased in 2008, as a percentage the rate
remained nearly unchanged.

Another significant factor to consider:
The overall number of miles driven decreased. The state
of the economy and the price of fuel has caused people to
drive less.

1.4 million people were arrested for DUI last year.
The number of DUI arrests has risen steadily for many years.

The term "legal limit" is a myth. A person can be arrested
and convicted of DUI after consuming any amount of alcohol.

A DUI arrest results in thousands of dollars in fines and fees, but the most extensive penalty is the cancellation of car insurance and classification as a "high-risk driver."

Car Insurance for a high-risk driver costs 2 to 3 times the normal rate.
